Ancient Egyptian Faience Winged Scarab

Third Intermediate to Late Period, 1075–600 BC

A beautiful Egyptian faience winged scarab dating to the Third Intermediate to Late Period (1075–600 BC). The ensemble comprises a central scarab flanked by outstretched wings and accompanied by a Son of Horus figure. Traces of multi-colour inlay remain visible on the scarab body. The winged scarab was one of the most powerful amulets in ancient Egyptian funerary practice, symbolising the sun god Khepri and the concept of rebirth and transformation. Dimensions: scarab 60 x 35 mm, wings 45 x 28 mm each, Son of Horus 60 mm.
