Chinese Celadon Glazed Stoneware, 960–1279 AD
A rare Chinese celadon-glazed stoneware zodiac bird finial from the Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD). The figure represents one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac and was originally mounted atop a funerary vase. Covered in a characteristic olive-green celadon glaze, the piece displays the refined craftsmanship and restrained elegance typical of Song-period ceramics. Such zodiac figures held deep cosmological significance in Chinese burial traditions, serving as spiritual guardians for the deceased.
